Mojuba! Black Dance Fest
March 26 - March 28$15 – $100
We are excited to announce the first annual Mojuba! Black Dance Fest to be held March 26 – 29, 2020, in Cleveland!
The festival is designed with the goal of bringing together dancers of all levels, instructors, choreographers, and professionals to expand or explore the black narrative through the medium of dance.
This incredible weekend will feature
masterclasses and workshops
The festival weekend will feature classes taught by instructors who specialize in teaching culturally unique dances from the African American experience. The highlight of the Mojuba! Black Dance Fest is a culminating performance showcasing bold, new works from the first cohort to participate in our Emerging Black Choreographers Incubator called “Of Vision and Voice”.
The Mojuba! Black Dance Fest will:
offer a platform where the sharing of unique expressions, stories, experiences, and culture may continue
serve as a gathering place and a safe space for artists of color in Cleveland and beyond
provide Ohio residents and visitors, namely the underrepresented and under-served, with increased access and opportunity to view and experience art that reflects a culture and identity that is their own
use area artists groups, teachers, and companies to demonstrate the depth of the talent that is within our own neighborhoods
The Mojuba! Black Dance Fest and the Emerging Black Choreographers Incubator is made possible by the generous support and sponsorship from the Ohio Arts Council, Cuyahoga Arts and Culture, the Cleveland Foundation, and the Rainey Institute.
